Welcome to Knowles Junior School

We aim to help every child to learn rewardingly and purposefully, through carefully planned teaching and a wide range of other educational opportunities. During their time here we hope that your children will discover their own capacity to learn, and adapt themselves to different working situations, demanding different levels of cooperation and self-discipline. They should then be equipped with the tools of learning so vital to their future prospects.

We are looking forward to having your children with us for the next few years, and we also look forward to having you, as your child's first educator, alongside us. You know your children best, so we aim to work in partnership with you, in order for them to get the most from their time with us.

Cookathon Is A Success

On March 16th we at Knowles took part in the Let’s Get Cooking National Cookathon.

The pupils and staff spent the whole day chopping and preparing vegetable soup and fruit salad. Tables were set up in the playground and at the main entrance, so that parents and the local community could take part.

Sensory Garden

We now have a wonderful Sensory Garden area in our community garden.  This was built by Gary and Danny who were released from their normal duties at Tesco, to act as volunteers for their community – so a big ‘thank you’ to Tesco Distribution Centre at Fenny Lock, for allowing their staff members to support the community in this way.  Also a thank you to Jo (Community Mobiliser) for helping with the liaison on this project - it was much appreciated.

Next we would like to thank Emily‘s (6E) dad for helping our caretaker to erect our new greenhouse, and thanks to India–Lei’s (3/4H) grandparents for their kind donation of plants.

We are always grateful for any support I get in running and maintaining the school garden – so if you can volunteer any time, or donate any items, the children and I are always very appreciative.  Please remember that parents/carers are welcome just to pop in and see what we are doing in the garden on a Thursday afternoon straight after school. Jo (CM) has promised to serve free refreshments to those that do drop in and see us.

Caldecotte Activities

In the week of 26 April everyone in school got the opportunity to spend a day at Caldecotte doing a variety of activities.

We were so lucky in getting such good weather, and the feeling in school was that it really was an excellent day.  All the children enjoyed trying the different activities, and more were surprised at how they overcame their concerns about trying something new.  The stars for the day were Kiah and Tasmena in Year 6, who shot up the climbing walls so quickly that they looked like professionals!

Dance Exchange 2010

Children from across the school are taking part in the Dance Exchange at Milton Keynes Theatre on Wednesday 20th January. They have been working with a choreographer and Miss Conlong, practising hard since before Christmas. On the night they will be joined by children from other local schools.

Dance Exchange

The photo shows them performing their routine for the rest of the school. Well done for representing us in this exciting activity.
