Knowles Junior School is part of the Milton Keynes Health Schools Award Scheme. As a health promoting school we see promotion of health and well being as central to the life of the school. The scheme takes a broad view that includes all aspects of the life of the school and its relationships with the surrounding community. It is based on the holistic model of health that recognises the interaction of physical, mental, social, emotional and environmental aspects. The aim of the scheme is to ensure that Milton Keynes schools use all the available resources at their disposal to improve the health and well being of all children and staff in the school. It can be seen as a tool to tackle inequalities in health which affect the children’s ability to learn. A catering company provides meals for paying children and those eligible for free lunches. There is a choice of hot meal, jacket potato, salad, vegetarian option, or packed lunch. The current cost is £2.05 per day and children order and pay weekly in advance. Payment for more than one week in advance, or for a half term, may be made by cheque payable to the catering company. |
