During their time at Knowles Junior School, children’s progress is regularly assessed in order to inform teachers’ planning and to ensure that we get the best from every child whatever their ability.  At the end of Year 6 children take the statutory SAT’s and their results are reported to you.

Homework

You can expect your child to be given homework from Year 3 onwards.  The type, frequency and amount will vary according to age.  Children will  have a homework timetable but we expect all children to spend 10-20 minutes each evening on reading, spellings, or tables.

Homework diaries, or folders, will be provided for the children so that you have a chance to check the work set and comment on it.  We view homework as a chance for you to be involved in your child’s education and are happy for you to work with them (but not FOR them) particularly on research work, spellings, tables and reading.

11+ Examination

In common with all Milton Keynes schools we no longer take part in the selection process for Buckinghamshire schools.  Parents who wish their children to take this examination should contact the Admissions Department (Education), Buckinghamshire County Council, County Hall, Aylesbury, HP20 1UZ.  The examinations are taken on various dates during the autumn term.
