Art, craft and design stimulate creativity and imagination. They provide visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of understanding. They also have a role as a learning and display medium in other curriculum areas. Students study the elements of line, colour, form, texture, pattern and different materials and processes to communicate what they see, feel and think. Through art, craft and design activities, they learn to make informed value judgements and aesthetic and practical decisions, becoming actively involved and responsible in what they do. Students will explore ideas and meanings in the work of artists, craftspeople and designers. They will learn about the roles and functions of art, craft and design in contemporary life and in different times and cultures. Design and Technology In Design and Technology children will undertake a variety of projects, from the design stage through to the finished article, be it a simple lamp, an imaginative restaurant, or the pizza to serve in it. They will learn about the safe use of tools and the skills necessary to use them correctly. |
