Religious Education

Religious Education is one of the five core subjects of the National Curriculum.  In common with other Milton Keynes schools we follow the locally agreed Syllabus.  This syllabus has been carefully put together and agreed by teachers and members of many different faiths.

It covers the following broad spectrum of topics:

  • Worship
  • Festivals
  • Founders

  • Religion in the Community
  • Faith and action
  • Religious Places

Through their work children learn about the main religions of the world, their similarities, differences beliefs and customs.  Because religious education is part of the National Curriculum and is taught in the same way as any other subject there is no right of withdrawal.

Allied to, but very separate from the RE programme is the requirement for a daily act of collective worship.  It is in this time that much of the moral education happens.  Although other religions are represented during assembly time the requirement for a mainly Christian focus is followed.
