Knowles Junior School is situated between Queensway and the Leon Recreation Ground. Known as Knowles Middle School from 1973-2005, the school dates back to the 1890's. In 2005 it became Knowles Junior School, as part of Milton Keynes Council's Schools Reorganisation.

Much of the school's character derives from the variety of its buildings, some of which date back to the turn of the century. The school was modernised in 1975 and now, in addition to the usual classroom space, has a large gym, dining/assembly hall, library, computer suite and a small cookery area.

The school has its own large playing field and playground.

The building is currently shared with the Adult Education Service.
